SCAMS
Scams for increasing gas mileage are not new but
with rising prices we become more aware and susceptible to them.
Wishful
thinking will not make pills, vaporizers or hydrogen generators increase
your miles per gallon. Properly inflated tires, clean air filters, lower
speeds and sensible
driving habits will save fuel. Most of us won't like it but we will
get better mileage at 55 to 60 mph than at 70 or higher, just a simple
matter of wind resistance. While each vehicle gets its best fuel economy at
a different speed mileage decreases rapidly at speeds over 60 mph.
Idling at long traffic lights is a waste as
you get 0 mpg while sitting and the bigger the engine the more you
waste. Avoid excess weight. If your still hauling the old monitor or TV in
the trunk that you were supposed to drop off at Goodwill, it is costing you
money. Use cruise control on the highway and maintaining a constant speed
whenever possible.
